Meet Our Accounting Department

Our Accounting Department provides streamlined accounting procedures for Emerald’s portfolio of hotels. These services include daily cash, check, and credit card reconciliations, payroll and payroll tax reconciliations, accounts payable entry, processing, and payment, sales tax, occupancy tax, use tax and commercial activity tax reconciliation,  payment, profit and loss reporting, cash flow projections, budgeting, recording and payment of capital plans or renovations, assisting and coordinating financing for hotel acquisition or refinance, and assisting in property and casualty and umbrella insurance prices. Each member of the team adds to the success of the Accounting Department:


Brian McFadden, Controller. He supports all phases of Emerald’s Centralized Accounting system through financial management for the entire Emerald portfolio including monthly profit and loss statements, management of the accounts payable process, and annual budgets. He also assists the Human Resources Department through coordinating the accounting, billing, and renewal of insurance plans.  Additionally, He works with the Hospitality Management Department with asset management by overseeing the accounting for property capital expenditures and capital reserve accounts.


Gina Bilak, Assistant Controller. She works closely with each hotel’s General Manager to prepare the properties’ monthly financial statements. She also provides support for the financial accounting system. She handles the bank reconciliations, reviews the balance sheets and P&Ls, and aids with budgeting and segmentation at each of the properties in the Emerald portfolio.


Debbie Turner, Accounts Payable Coordinator. Her role revolves around invoicing, monitoring the invoices being entered, cutting checks each week, and compiling month end reports. She also works with the General Managers on issues they may have with vendors and completing/submitting credit applications. Debbie also supports Emerald with projects as needed when they come up.


Jill Urich, Corporate Accountant. The majority of her position involves reconciling and reporting taxes. She calculates as well as files the sales and use tax returns for all of Emerald’s properties at the city, county, and state levels. She also heads up all of the related tax audits. In between monthly filings, she’s working on a master sales tax summary by state for future reference and assisting her colleagues in the accounting department on various projects.

From budgeting to cash flow projections for each of the hotels in Emerald’s portfolio, the Accounting Department provides a variety of streamlined accounting procedures for our hotels.
